Year 3 had a farm-tastic day exploring a 'Farm in a Bag'! We used all our senses to discover the smells, sights and sounds of the farm - from earthy aromas to animal noises and everything in between. This hands-on experience is helping us get ready and excited for next week's farm visit to South Ormsby. We can't wait to see it all for real! Sports Enrichment with Coastal Schools Sports Partnership Some of our Year Four children had an incredible table tennis enrichment session thanks to the Coastal Schools Sports Partnership! They learned a range of skills and techniques from Mr Green, who proudly represented England in table tennis at the Olympics when he was younger. The children were inspired as he demonstrated impressive trick shots before coaching them in key techniques to improve their game. To finish, the children took part in fast-paced games where the champion stayed on! Times Tables Rock Stars Day! Today our school was rocking as pupils became true Times Tables Rock Stars! From dazzling outfits to lightning-fast multiplication, the energy and effort truly rocked. STEM in Action! Our Year 5 class had an inspiring workshop with the Outer Dowsing Energise team this week, diving into the world of wind power. The children explored how renewable energy works, designed and built their own mini wind turbines, and carried out fair tests using different materials to investigate how these changes affected turbine speed. They also revisited their learning on levers and gears, applying their knowledge to improve their designs. It was a fantastic handson session that sparked curiosity, teamwork, and plenty of creative engineering! Year 1 have been learning all about robots! Our computing lessons have been packed with fun as we explored programming using Bee-Bots. The children worked in pairs to give their Bee-Bots instructions like forward, backward, left, and right to reach a chosen destination. This hands-on activity was a fantastic way to practise directional language and develop problem-solving skills along the way! Year 6 Get Creative with Anderson Shelters! Our Year 6 pupils have been diving into history and design technology with an exciting project on Anderson shelters. After researching these iconic WWII structures, they sketched their ideas in their art books and then teamed up to bring their designs to life. Working collaboratively, they discussed the materials they'd need (and those that wouldn't work!) before rolling up their sleeves to use traditional woodwork techniques – sawing, gluing and joining. The results are fantastic! We love seeing our pupils combine history, art, and hands-on learning in such an engaging way. Well done, Year Six! Exploring Nature – Whatever the Weather! At Wainfleet Magdalen, we believe that nature and the outdoors are an essential part of our curriculum. Our Reception children love learning outside in all weathers – wellies and puddle suits at the ready! Monday's snowfall gave us a wonderful chance to explore the natural world. We investigated freezing and melting, and even became wildlife detectives when we found footprints in our garden that weren't ours! After some careful observation, we discovered they belonged to birds and rabbits! This then inspired the children's creativity back in the classroom. They created 'icy' pictures, learning about hot and cold colours and thoughtfully choosing materials to represent snowy scenes. Outdoor learning helps our children develop curiosity, creativity, and a deep respect for the world around them – and we love seeing them thrive!
